Time/Timeline

Still away from my Studio, my life is dominated by Time zones at the moment. I have to regularly keep checking what time it is back in the UK to see if I can contact my family or work colleagues, then I have to check what time it is in the US, as that's where company HQ is and then just for the last couple of days, I've also had to check the time in Thailand as I have been trying to arrange my stay there next week. My personalised digital clock is getting a lot of use just now!

Studio Friday

Family

As many of you know, I am away from home and family right now and my studio is my dining table in my little house in Scotland, which is the literally on the other side of the world. So, I am currently without my family and without my Studio. I was thinking what to contribute to this weeks Studio Friday theme of Family in such circumstances, especially as I don't happen to have any photos of my Mum and my brother on my Harddrive just at the moment.

Then it occurred to me that I have just come back to the hotel from a particularly good night (See other Blog entry for today)  out with my temporary 'family' . When you travel on work projects, you don't always know the people that you will be working with and that can be a bit of a lottery. There will be some that you naturally gel with, and some that you don't. However, I can honestly say that this project has a great bunch of people on it and even though we all might get on each other's nerves during stressful points during the working day, socially we all get along fabulously! I guess that's pretty much like a real family! Tonight we said 'farewell' to Mary Ann who is heading home to Kansas for a short while. We also said farewell to Erica whom I've only met once before but who is such an open person she literally envelopes you in a virtual hug, such is her capability to accept new friends. We laughed at Patrick's jokes, teased 'young' Tom, Felicia and I talked about the study of Esoterics, we met Tony's children for the first time and Chris told us about his plans with his family for the weekend - oh and I tried eating Kangaroo for the first time whilst some of my Australian colleagues sang 'Skippy! Skippy! Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo!' (yes, really!!!)   

So today I thought I would share some photo's of a few of my temporary family.......(especially as Patrick was complaining that I hadn't written much about him in my Blog. By the way, he also told me that I had to describe him as 'suave and debonair' - job done Patrick - did I do good?)

My A-HA Moment

Hmmm, this one was quite tough. I can usually visualise what I want a piece of work to look like so my 'A-Ha' moments are not very frequent. I think probably the closest A-Ha moment was quite recently when I made some background paper and wasn't really sure what I was going to do with it. I'm not nomally a 'Vintage' person, but the paper seems to call out for a Vintage treatment. The result was this covered address book.....

Studio Friday and Survey Update

This is a bit of a 'Duo-post' , I hope nobody minds! Firstly, let me get the Studio Friday bit out of the way. You may be wondering what a picture of a purple covered Nano Ipod is doing at the top of my Blog today (Not the greatest photo I've ever taken but I may replace it when I get home by taking the photo in daylight to see if that makes a difference!)  Well, I have just decided to start taking part in this weekly mini challenge. Basically each week a challenge is placed on the Studio Friday website - it is a kind of 'treasure hunt' where you have to find something in your 'studio' that reflects the topic for each week. (I can't really claim to have a studio, I'm not that fancy, my studio is my dining room table!) Then you have to post a picture of it on your blog and link it back to the Studio Friday site.

Anyway this weeks theme is 'Sounds' - which I interpreted as being, what can you hear in/from your studio. I had several options here, I could have posted pictures of my fridge, Dishwasher or Washing machine as my kitchen and Dining area are virtually open plan (my house is incredibly small). However, I chose my Ipod instead, because I usually play music whilst I create in order to drown OUT the sound of the fridge, the Dishwasher, the washing machine - you get the picture! :o)

Next up - the EXCITING bit!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE.....................

My survey response rate has LEAPT from a quite pleasing 8 responses from yesterday to a STAGGERING 54 responses - yes guys, that's right 54 responses! (Pick me up of the floor now because I'm having a fainting fit!)

There are some very special thank you's that I have to make, firstly to a lady by the name of KERRIE HILL. Kerrie and I have never met, but through a friend of a friend of a friend (you know the type of thing) Kerrie got to hear about my survey and very kindly offered to post a link to it on a Stamping forum that she belongs to known as CM & PC (Card Making and Paper Crafting perhaps????). Anyway about 20+ people from that board have filled in my survey today! What a FANTASTIC group of forum members you are - thank you all so much for taking time to fill out a survey for someone you have no connection to other than a love of stamping! I am SO appreciative!

Thanks to some of my good buddies over at TWO PEAS and also OUR FRONT PORCH for also supporting me in this endeavour. I have received loads of additional comments at the end of the surveys wishing me good luck in my endeavours, which is definitely spurring me on!

So, I am over half way to my target, who knows, maybe by tomorrow I'll be there!

(OK, now I can't keep up with this, in the time I've just typed this, I just got another 2 surveys! :o) )

Hopefully some of you will come back to my blog and take a look at the real reason why I blog - the Artwork! I will be back to posting pictures of that this weekend, so please come back and visit!
